In 1966 the palaces of the Ganda, Nyoro and Ankole peoples were seized and burned, the musicians dispersed or killed and the royal instruments destroyed! The court music was never heard again. Historical recordings by Hugh Tracey in 1950 & '52 - we are so lucky they exist. Featuring the last Ganda royal harpist - the great Temusewo Mukasa - as well as the royal flute ensemble, drum ensemble and xylophone ensemble, and others. From the Nyoro court the swinging royal horn ensemble, and unique royal drums. Songs from the Ankole court.
